I the I did as the others have indicated and copied the text from the offending file and pasted it into a new document which fixes the problem for a time, however, upon going back to those new documents recently I am now encountering the same problem forcing me to repeat the process. However, when I brought them back up I began encountering the issue with Word crashing w hen I attempt to insert or update references in my document's bibliography. At one point, the program froze so I attempted to restart both programs as before. Once I did so I could continue for a while but would eventually have to restart both programs again.

When my reference list exceeded 100 references occationally the process would hang and I would have to restart both Word and Endnote to proceed. As I was writing and inserting refernces, I gradually noticed that it took longer and longer to update the bibliography the more references I included. The document I am working on currently has over 200 cited references.
